UPDATE: Officials say Londonderry police scene was arrest of Manchester shooting suspect

LONDONDERRY - Police say the heavy police presence in Londonderry on Friday was the arrest of a man wanted in a Thursday shooting in Manchester.

Police arrested Marcus Cherry on Friday afternoon at Wagon Wheel park.

A detective said they found Cherry by pinging his cell phone which led them to the house of an acquaintance of Cherry.

The scene shut down the area for a while on Friday, impacting the bus routes for students leaving Londonderry schools.

Police said they are heading back to the house to continue searching for the firearm.

No one else in the home was arrested.
