UPDATE: New Hampton firefighter died in the line of duty

NEW HAMPTON - Officials have determined that longtime firefighter Douglas Clement died in the line of duty.

Clement, a father of four, was on-call for the New Hampton Fire Department after returning from rescue training Monday night. Emergency responders were called to his home at 5:24 a.m. Tuesday for a medical emergency.

He was taken to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth where he was pronounced deceased. An autopsy performed today showed he died of a heart attack.

Clement joined the New Hampton Fire Department in 1997. He was one of 30 serving with the department.
