UPDATE: Missing dog reunited with owner 11 days after I-93 crash

BOW — A young couple from Rhode Island involved in a serious car crash on Interstate 93 last month has been reunited with their dog after he fled from the scene.

Travis Gallant and his girlfriend Felicia Haenel crashed as they were heading from from New Hampshire to Rhode Island on July 23.

While the couple recovered in the hospital, Granite State Dog Recovery heard about the missing dog , named Lotto, and volunteers got to work.

The group spread the word on social media and set up cameras. After capturing images of Lotto, they set up a cage and captured him about 2 miles from the crash site.

Lotto spent 11 days fending for himself in the woods, but, surprisingly, he's doing fine. Veterinarians at an emergency veterinary hospital in Manchester said he was in fairly good health, but was covered in ticks and needed some treatment.

Granite State Dog Recovery received donations which covered the costs of treatment.

Haenel said she was incredibly grateful for the efforts of everyone involved and said she will donate to Granite State Dog Recovery to help others in the future.
