UPDATE: Mass. driver crosses yellow line, hits 2 NH drivers in Salem

SALEM - A Massachusetts man crossed over the double yellow line on Main Street and struck two other vehicles on Friday at around 6 a.m.

Shamus Mitchell was driving a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder when he was driving west. He smashed into a Salem woman's 2008 Infiniti and caused her to spin out when he crossed the line. Mitchell then struck a Pelham man's car.

Mitchell suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries, and was taken to the Lawrence General Hospital by the Salem Fire Department. The drivers of the two vehicles Mitchell struck were taken to the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts where they were treated for minor injuries.

Witnesses are encouraged to contact the Salem Police Department at 603.893.1911. Though Main Street was closed for several hours, it is now open again.
