UPDATE: Man pulled from morning fire in NH in critical condition after CPR

NASHUA — One person had to be rescued from an attic apartment after a fire Friday.

Nashua Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire at 371 Main St. just after 8 a.m.

Upon arrival residents who had escaped the building told fire crews the fire was on the third floor. Crews found smoke and fire on that floor and found an unconscious man in an apartment. After pulling the man from the building, they performed CPR on him until he was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. He is in critical condition.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the apartment it started in.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nashua Fire marshal's office, the state Fire Marshal's Office and Nashua police.

The building did have working smoke detectors.
