UPDATE: Man in wheelchair hit by car in Concord identified by police, in serious condition

CONCORD - Police have identified a man in a wheelchair who was hit by car in Concord on Thursday night.

Gene Parker, 52 of Concord, was hit on I-393 between North Main Street and Commercial Street at about 6:30 p.m.

Police said he was pedestrian and was transported by the Concord Fire Department to Concord Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, a 52-year-old woman, was not injured, and police said they will not release her name.

She fully cooperated with police, they said, and alcohol and drugs don't appear to be factors in the crash.

Police said there were no initial indications of any drug/alcohol issues with Parker.

The investigation is ongoing.
