The crash occurred Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on Route 25 near the intersection of Route 153. Police responded and found one motorcycle on the ground in the middle of the westbound lane. Kauffman was flown by medical helicopter to Maine Medical Center.
Police said it appears the car involved stopped suddenly in the middle of the lane and Kauffman was unable to stop in time. Police said the motorcycle hit the back of the car. The car is described as a white four-door sedan with orange New York plates. The driver was described as a black female, medium build, wearing glasses and a ponytail.

It appears that there may have been an altercation between the two vehicles prior to the crash, however all aspects remain under investigation. Anyone that may have further information related to this collision, or who witnessed this collision are encouraged to contact Trooper Gary Wood Jr. at (603) 223-8838 or Trooper Greg Dube by e-mail at greg.dube@dos.nh.gov.
