The crash occurred Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on Route 25 near the intersection of Route 153. Police responded and found one motorcycle on the ground in the middle of the westbound lane. Kauffman was flown by medical helicopter to Maine Medical Center.

The car is described as a white four-door sedan with orange New York plates. The driver was described as a black female, medium build, wearing glasses and a ponytail.

It appears that there may have been an altercation between the two vehicles prior to the crash, however all aspects remain under investigation.
