UPDATE: Lobsterman says boat caught flames so quickly he couldn't radio for help


PORTSMOUTH — The man whose lobster boat caught on fire while sailing on the ocean said the fire engulfed the vessel so quickly he didn’t even have time to make a radio call for help.

Joshua Ford, 31, heard what he described as a “weird noise,” Seacoastonline.com reported. When he checked out what it was, he said flames shot up and immediately set fire to the entire boat.

Fortunately, Ford and his deckhand, 24-year-old Curtis Oliver, jumped into the cold Atlantic Ocean and were rescued by New Hampshire Fish and Game.
