UPDATE: Expert says ending could be grim for NH coyote seen with head in jar

PEMBROKE - The coyote who got his head stuck in a clear plastic jar may be too frightened to let itself be captured long enough to help free it, according to an expert.

This would leave the coyote to figure out how to free itself on its own, “and I’m not sure a coyote could know how to do that,” expert Chris Schadler told the Concord Monitor.

N.H. Fish and Game almost caught the coyote on Sunday, but the animal bolted into the woods as soon as it spotted a conservation officer.

Schadler told the Monitor he is worried the coyote will spend its final days in the jar, but did point out that if its head fit in the jar, it could squeeze back out.

Fish and Game have asked anyone who spots the animal to call 271-3361.

LaCrosse warned there’s a chance the animal could bite if anyone dislodges the jar from its head.
