EFFINGHAM - A fire truck on its way back from receiving minor maintenance rolled over on Route 153 on Wednesday, closing the road for part of the morning.
The fire chief, who was at the wheel, was not hurt but was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
The truck rolled over about a quarter mile from the station shortly after 10 a.m. The incident remains under investigation but it appears that snowy road conditions on Route 153 at the time contributed to the accident
The fire department indicated it will continue to respond with its remaining apparatus, and will relay on mutual aid for certain calls as needed.
