UPDATE: Derry teen dies after NJ car crash; 2 - including toddler - in critical condition


UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A teen from Derry has died after being involved in a single-car crash on Interstate 78 in New Jersey on Monday that also left four people from Manchester injured as well.

Jesse Philbin, 17 of Derry was thrown from a Subaru Forester being driven by Justin Proulx, 25 of Manchester. Philbin passed away from his injuries Tuesday night.

A second passenger, 2-year-old Landon Proulx of Manchester was also ejected from the car which rolled over in the highway's left lane.

According to New Jersey police, the Subaru rolled onto the median, went over a guardrail and ended up in the median on the opposite side of the highway around 6 p.m. Monday.

Proulx, 4-year-old Kaiden Proulx and 24-year-old Krystal Kula, were airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, and Landon Proulx was taken by ambulance.

As of Wednesday, Justin Proulx and Kaiden Proulx remain in critical condition, where Kula and Landon Proulx are in stable condition.
