UPDATE: Belmont Police continue the search for Belmont shooting suspects, neighbors react

BELMONT - Police have identified a suspect that allegedly shot a Belmont woman in the head and they expect that it was not random act.

Now police are looking for 42-year-old Jason Cuocolo who has addresses in Meredith as well as Rockland Massachusetts. Police believe he shot the woman, then took off in a vehicle that was later found abandoned.

Police believe Cuocolo is armed and dangerous and anyone with information of his whereabouts should call Belmont or state police.

The woman was apparently shot in the head in a home at 24 Arlene Drive at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, but was found alive. She was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock and is in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The victim is recovering as police search for the man that pulled the trigger.

Police have not released the identity of the 33-year-old victim and say she is in critical but stable condition. Police say she is lucky to be alive.

"It (the bullet) transected her head and exited into her shoulder...she is very lucky, very lucky young lady" said Chief Mark Lewandoski of the Belmont Police Department.

"We sent the dog to Meredith, my canine officer went up there to assist in the search for the individual there. We really don't know at this point where he is. We're pretty comfortable he's still in the area" said Chief Lewandoski.

Residents who live in the neighborhood say it's usually quiet but it seems like shootings are becoming more common.

"The Belmont cops are around, they're pretty good with keeping everyone safe around here," said a neighbor who didn't want to be identified. "You hear it everywhere around everywhere now. It's not just one small town."
