UPDATE: 'Armed and dangerous' Epping man found walking not far from search site
EPPING - Police have located a registered sex offender who went missing last night, sparking a 12-hour manhunt for a man police described as "armed and dangerous."
Christopher Lamear, 25, was apprehended without incident but with a loaded handgun walking down a street not far from the command post at about noontime today, said Epping police Capt. Jason Newman. He is currently at the Epping Police station.
Lemear went missing about midnight. Police said the department received a call of domestic dispute and a gunshot was heard.
A massive police presence had assembled by morning, including a SWAT team, an armored vehicle, and a mobile command unit. A search place flew over head. Parents in the area were told there would be no bus service as a result of the search and children had to be driven to school.
Lemear was convicted in 2009 in Hillsborough County on charges of burglary and felonious sexual assault, according to state records.
