Ira Cohen appeared in Manchester District Court today. The Londonderry School District janitor faces nearly half a dozen charges for his alleged involvement with the Hanover Street shooting that took place Thursday, but his attorney says the shooting was in self-defense.
Cohen remained expressionless as the judge spoke. Mason Periera, one of the men Cohen allegedly shot, was hit twice in the abdomen. We learned today that Pereira was with his brother during the altercation.
After shots were fired, Cohen reportedly said to Mason Periera's brother, "I'll (expletive) shoot you, too."
It was also learned today that Cohen and Periera know each other.
Cohen's attorney said the two brothers allegedly assaulted him at a red light.
Periera's mother said the bullets hit her son's liver and spine, and his condition remains serious.
As for Cohen, the Londonderry School District says he's on leave pending the results of this investigation.
