UPDATE: Alex Haas, Color Play Asia burn victim from NH, on his way to recovery
The Associated Press
CONCORD— A N.H. man recovering from burns to about 90 percent of his body from an explosion at a Taiwan water park is now able to get in and out of the shower by himself, take care of the family dog and cook.
Alex Haas, 27, of Mont Vernon, who originally had to wear a full-body bandage, is down to wearing wraps to reduce swelling in his feet and calves. He's able to wear slippers.
The next step for Haas is a series of laser surgeries to help repair his scarred skin. The first one is scheduled for Dec. 17 at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The explosion happened June 27 when a colored powder was released and caught fire. At least 12 people died and more than 500 were injured.
