UPDATE: A different kind of water park moves in to buy Candia's Liquid Planet

CANDIA - Anyone at $975,000? Hearing, seeing no answers, the auctioneer announced the sale for $950,000.

And with that the Liquid Planet Water Park is sold at auction ending Kevin Dumont’s dream to somehow come up with his own financial rescue.

"Well it’s sad obviously whenever you start something and you pour your heart into it as long as we did which was 10 years. It’s painful," Dumont said.

The new owners? NLI LLC Inc. which has run the larger, Whale’s Tale Water Park and Alpine Adventures in Lincoln.

"This is kind of in the southern region for us so it’s a good opportunity to expand south a little bit. These guys had a great vision, started a great park and what’s here is in great shape," said Jeff Woodward, managing partner for the company.

They have ambitious plans to expand and reopen next spring.

"Our intention is to open some kind of zip line courses and challenge courses here as well we would have a dual thing going as we have up in Lincoln," Woodward continued.

Dumont has no regrets about chaining himself to the water slide for 17 days trying to find a suitor.

"I know in my heart I did everything I could to save it. It will go on to its next phase of life," Dumont said.

And he has one wish for the new owners.

"I just hope they continue to hire the local kids to run it and keep the jobs alive and that they can continue to have a nice, clean, safe park that families can come to and have a great day," he said.

It’s always sad when a local business goes under, but it seems some consolation to the former owners that this will remain a water park.
