UPDATE: 2 rescued after lobster boat catches fire off Rye coast


RYE (AP) — Authorities in New Hampshire say two people were rescued after a lobster boat caught fire off the coast of Rye.

New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol received a call just before 11 a.m. Sunday for a report of black smoke coming from a boat just south of Portsmouth Harbor.

Crews rushed to the scene and found a 30-foot boat engulfed in flames. Conservation officers pulled two people from the water. Portsmouth firefighters put out the fire.

The boat was destroyed by the flames. It was towed to Portsmouth Harbor.

The boaters weren't injured. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
