Unseen footage of Christa McAuliffe to air for 'Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes'

CONCORD – It’s been almost 30 years since the Challenger’s explosion sent shockwaves through the nation.

The tragedy didn’t hit harder anywhere than it did in New Hampshire.

Beloved teacher and Concord icon Christa McAuliffe was selected to go into space. The first teacher ever to do so.

The National Geographic channel is airing a documentary, Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes, on Monday night – just days before the 30th anniversary.

The documentary is constructed solely on unnarrated footage, including footage of McAuliffe that was previously unreleased.

Be sure to watch at 9 p.m. as we remember a Granite State hero this week and all the other astronauts lost in the tragedy.
