Unpaid leave for Chester, Derry NH firefighter accused of assault

A day after he was charged with domestic assault, Chester's deputy fire chief is back in Rockingham County jail charged with violating a restraining order.

Michael Willinsky, 45, of 127 Haverhill Road, showed up at the Derry fire station Wednesday, Sept. 17, while the woman he is accused of assaulting was there speaking with firefighters, police said.

Willinsky turned himself in to police later that night. He is being held on $1,500 cash surety bail.

He is on unpaid leave at the Chester Fire Department as well as the Derry Fire Department, where he is a firefighter and paramedic, until further notice.

Willinsky was first arrested Tuesday, Sept. 16, after a police officer witnessed him slap a woman he was holding in a chair.
