UNH reaches agreement on 5-year contract with faculty

DURHAM - University of New Hampshire administrators have reached an agreement on a five-year contract with their tenure-track faculty members.

The contract negotiated with the UNH chapter of the American Association of University Professors will run from July of 2015 to June 30 of 2020. An executive committee of the school's trustees ratified the contract on Feb. 18 and the faculty members on March 23.

Faculty members get an annual raise of 3 percent but will have to pay more toward their health insurance premiums. UNH administrators say the health benefit changes will save the school $5 million over the five-year contract. They also said the contract keeps them competitive with similar universities in the nation.

“The end result is a contract that balances a competitive compensation package with fiscal responsibility,” UNH President Mark W. Huddleston said.
