Two injured in rollover accident in Rochester
ROCHESTER - Two people were injured Thursday night in a rollover accident.
A 2003 Dodge Caravan driven by Shauntelle Fitts, 25, of Barrington, was traveling south on Gonic Road near the Rochester Country Club when it hit a guardrail, crossed into the opposite lane of travel, went down the embankment, rolled over and crashed into a tree, police said.
The passenger, Deana Spencer, 42, of Barrington, was thrown from the vehicle, police said.
Spencer was taken to Skyhaven Airport in Rochester and then flown to Maine Medical Center by DART with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Fitts was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The vehicle suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation but neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors, police said. Neither Fitts nor Spencer appeared to be wearing seatbelts, police said.
