Tsarnaev found guilty on all 30 counts in Boston Marathon bombings
BOSTON - A verdict has been reached in the Boston Marathon bombings trial.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found guilty on all 30 charges against him.
The jury reached the verdict after 11 hours of deliberations. Seventeen of the 30 counts against Tsarnaev carried the death penalty.
Lawyers, survivors, victims familie, and the media were present for the verdict announcement.
During the proceeding, Tsarnaev was seen talking with his lawyers.
Accounts from the courtroom said Tsarnaev's demeanor looked no different than it had the past few days, and he looked relaxed, and often smiled and laughed with his defense team.
The trial will next move into a penalty phase, where the jury will hear testimony and arguments from both sides and ultimately be tasked with deciding whether he gets the death penalty.
A date for that phase of the trial has not yet been set, according to federal prosecutors.
