Troy town administrator arrested and charged with theft

TROY - State Police have arrested a town administrator in Troy accused of stealing money from the town and using it for personal expenses.

State Police said started an investigation with Troy Police on Oct. 24 after receiving information that Cynthia Satas, 62, of Troy, may have been involved in a theft or misappropriation of town funds.

The tip, state police said, was received from a source outside the Town of Troy.

Satas is the town welfare administrator and administrative assistant to the Board of Selectmen in Troy.

Police said the allegation claims Satas may have been using town funds to pay utility bills for her home, as well as for several rental properties she owns in Troy and Peterborough. Police said the thefts resulted in a loss of at least $15,000 in funds for the town of Troy.

State Police executed search warrants at Satas' home and the Troy Town Hall on Dec. 2.

Police acquired several file boxes and two computers during the search.

Satas is charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, a class A felony.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking that anyone with information call Trooper Sean Eaton at 603-223-8494.
