TRAFFIC ALERT: Collapsed culvert in Merrimack forces road closure
MERRIMACK — Drivers will face unexpected road closures in Merrimack for the next few weeks because a sinkhole collapsed a water tunnel underneath Amherst Road.
Amherst Road is closed between Executive Park and Turkey Hill Road because the culvert that Naticook Brook traveled through was damaged.
The culvert corroded and, thanks to heavy rains recently, caused the road bed to erode into a sinkhole.
The road closures from this are expected to last three to four weeks while public works crews replace the tunnel.
A map of the detour routes below will help drivers in Merrimack plan their new paths.
