Top 5 unique things to do in New Hampshire
From surfing to skiing, hiking to dog sledding, and NASCAR too, New Hampshire is filled with a variety of activities and attractions for all ages.
NH1 made a list of some of the top five unique things you can do or visit in New Hampshire this summer.
Top Five Unique things you can only do in New Hampshire:
1. The World's Longest Candy Counter
The world's longest candy counter is nearly 112 feet long and located at Chutters in Littleton. According to Chutters' website, the counter features over 500 types of candy to choose from including gummy bears, jelly beans, Necco wafers, and Sour Balls.
2. Dog Sledding in Summer
Muddy Paw Sled Dog Kennel in Jefferson offers year-round dog sledding adventures. The sled dogs are said to be be rescues and second chance dogs. Participants ages 2 and up are given the opportunity to meet and greet the dogs, help harness and even drive the sled at times. All proceeds "help cover the expenses involved in caring for these incredible canine athletes."
3. Visit Madison Boulder
Madison Boulder is said to be the largest glacial erratic transported by glacial ice in North America sitting at 23 feet high, 37 feet front-to-back, and 85 feet left-to-right. It was once part of a ledge on Conway Granite and now sits two miles south on a different deposit.
4. The 45th Parallel
Clarksville, New Hampshire might not catch ones ear right away, but in this town is the 45th parallel halfway between the equator and the North Pole. According to the sign on site, "a line from this point through the center of the earth would emerge in the Indian Ocean 982 miles southwest of Perth, Australia."
5. Redstone Rocket
Located in Warren, Redstone Rocket was leftover from the Cold War and allegedly one of the first to carry a nuclear warhead. Installed in 1971, the empty rocket was installed to honor Astronaut Alan Shepard.
