Three treated for possible hypothermia after their canoe capsized

AMHERST - In Amherst, three people had to be rescued from the cold Souhegan River after the canoe they were in capsized.

49-year-old Jean Letarte of Milford was duck hunting with his son and his son's friend when the canoe overturned.

Letarte was swept downstream by the current while the two boys managed to grab onto tree limbs. One of the boys managed to call 911 on his cell phone.

All three were taken to area hospitals to be treated for possible hypothermia.
