These are the 5 best ways to stay healthy on your vacation

Summer is the time for vacations and travel, but sometimes the mix of humidity, sunburn and exhaustion can leave you sick. Nearly half of all Americans reported disrupted travel plans due to sickness according to Teladoc.

Because we care about keeping you, (yes I really do mean you) healthy and happy here at NH1.com, we've put together a list of five ways to stay healthy for a vacation.

5. Stay up to date on the weather

Yes, you want to know if its raining, but air quality and pollen count are less common factors you may want to research.

4. Keep sunscreen on hand

You can prevent the cause of 17 percent of health-related trip cancellations this way.

3. Bring your insurance card

Have your health insurance card on hand, and snap a picture with your phone for back up.

2. Pack for your environment

You'll need bottled water and sunscreen and shade for the beach, and first aid supplies and bug spray for the mountains.

.... and finally ....

1. Wash your hands

Warm water and soap are still the number one preventative measure for fighting sickness. Keep hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes on hand when necessary.
