There isn't enough to say about Matt Bonner's - we mean Spuran, Spuran's - 'Spurs!'
Those who know me, know Matt Bonner is one of my favorite human beings of all time.
It's not only because the Concord native plays basketball - my favorite sport. It's not because he also embraces his red hair. It's not because he clearly loves being a city legend. It's not even because he's a two-time NBA champion.
It's because he does things like this:
That's Matt Bonner, Patty Mills, Aron Baynes, Kawhi Leonard & The Coyote - together as one as "Spuran, Spuran."
The quintet "formed" a rock band for a deliciously weird music video meant to celebrate the San Antonio Spurs' return to the playoffs. Oh yeah, and they're the defending champs.
These guys just have fun. They get it. Kawhi Leonard (on the drums) is the reigning NBA Finals MVP.
It's a team video, but Bonner was clearly the mastermind. Evidenced below.
Not to be missed, he does tons of charity work, and he comes back and does goofy things in Concord - including showing off last year's championship trophy across town and playing a game of horse with guys from the Concord Insider.
He also has a deep love for sandwiches, documenting that in his hilariously named feature for the Spurs website called "Sandwich Hunter: The Quest for the Hoagie Grail."
Keep being you, Red Mamba, and I'll start getting to work on my Halloween costume this year.
