Texan man transported to hospital after ATV crash in Berlin

BERLIN — A Texas man suffered injuries after crashing his ATV into a ditch on Smitty's Trail just outside of Jericho Mountain State Park.

Baldemar Zamora, 35, of Austin, Texas, was operating a friend's ATV northbound on the trail when he lost control on a corner and ended up in a ditch. Once in the ditch, he hit a rock and was thrown from his machine.

Zamora attempted to ride back after the incident but was uncomfortable with his injuries and called for help.

Zamora was picked up by Gorham rescue workers and was transferred to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for further treatment.

Officials say the crash was most likely due to speeding and inexperience.

Zamora suffered non-life threatening injuries.
