Teachers Behaving Badly: Sexual misconduct with students in NH and New England

Three former employees at Phillips Exeter Academy have been named in a sexual misconduct investigation. Thomas Wood, Steve Lewis and Rick Schubart are all accused of sexual misconduct with students while teaching at the prep school.

This was a look at some of the recent similar cases in the New England.

Yesterday, Donald Levesque, the one-time employee of Concord’s Shaker Road school admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student leading to a sentence of 20 to 40 years.

In November, Don Reiter lost his job at the Waterville Senior High School in Maine after a female student said he wanted her to have sex in his office. The case is still pending. A former student at Mascenic Regional High School in New Hampshire said he did the same to her. Reiter worked at the school in the late 90s and early 2000s. He denies the allegations.

And a former Berwick Academy teacher and coach just got jail time for taking videos up girls’ skirts at school - nearly two years after he was first charged. Brian Sanborn of Sanford, Maine was sentenced earlier this week.

A teacher at a Bar Harbor, Maine school was convicted last month for the sexual assault of a girl that once was his student. Benjamin Hodgdon assaulted the girl between 1999 and 2000.
