T-Bones in Derry closes briefly after driver knocks out a post in front

DERRY - The restaurant T-Bones Great American Eatery was briefly closed on Friday after a car hit a column that was supporting a section of the roof by the front entrance.

Firefighters say the driver lost control of the car outside the restaurant at 39 Crystal Ave. After hitting the column, the car came to rest about 150 feet away in an adjacent parking lot. Two people in the vehicle were taken to Parkland Medical Center as a precaution.

The Derry building inspector determined that the column was structural and that there was a hazard because the column contained lighting and electrical outlets. The restaurant was temporarily closed for business while firefighters installed some temporary beams to support the overhanging section of the roof. An electrican was called in to deal with the electrical hazard.

The restaurant was able to reopen around 6 p.m.
