Synthetic drugs - like spice - now officially illegal in NH

CONCORD – Gov. Hassan signed a bill Monday making the sale or possession of synthetic drugs illegal.

The decision comes after 40 people had serious reactions to synthetic drugs last year.

Businesses that sell synthetic drugs, like spice, can be fined and lose their licenses to sell liquor, lottery tickets or food.

If a person buys or sells synthetic drugs they will face $500 fine.

The law also includes a list of ingredients that can be included in the production of synthetic drugs.

The ban takes effect immediately.
