MANCHESTER - A robbery suspect tried to flee police on foot - without shoes - over the weekend.

Police said Justin Santagati, 33 of Manchester, borrowed a cell phone from a customer outside a Sprint Store then refused to give it back. He allegedly assaulted the phone's owner and fled.

Santagati was seen inside a McDonald's by an officer, who struggled to detain him, the police said, leading to Santagati to lose his shoes in the process. The chase continued through a home and several streets, until another homeowner grabbed him as Santagati ran through the home uninvited.

Another struggle with the homeowner and a police ensued and Santigati was ultimately Tased and detained.

Santagati was charged with robbery, burglary, simple assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and 3 counts of resisting arrest.
