Sununu, Morse, Jasper, to help launch Log Cabin Republicans of New Hampshire

PORTSMOUTH – The state’s top three elected GOP officials will be on hand Friday evening for an inaugural party to celebrate the launch of a Granite State chapter of a national organization that represents LGBT Republicans.

Gov. Chris Sununu, state Senate President Chuck Morse, and state House of Representative Speaker Shawn Jasper are attending the event marking the kick-off of the Log Cabin Republicans of New Hampshire. Sununu, the state’s first GOP governor in a dozen years, will deliver the keynote address.

Matt Mayberry told NH1 News that having Sununu, Morse and Jasper at the party “is a reaffirmation of what Republicans have been talking about all along, that we’re the party of inclusion, of opportunity, of being all voices together to be heard

The former NHGOP vice chair, who is openly gay, said that Sununu and party chair Jeanie Forrester have “made it very clear that they want to grow the party in New Hampshire and we took that mandate and brought in the Log Cabin, a national organization, to New Hampshire to give everyone a voice in the Republican Party. So we have conservatives, we have moderates, we have liberals, just like the regular Republican party.”

The organization, which was formed last month, is “one more group of Republicans that will augment the NHGOP,” added Mayberry, who works for Carlisle Capital in Portsmouth, which along with NH1 News is owned by Bill Binnie.

Mayberry, who helped organize the group and is serving as one of the two vice-chairs, said the mission of the organization is to “get Republicans elected in New Hampshire. We’re going to help the NHGOP and we’re going to help the local and town committees.”

“After tonight we join the grassroots effort on state and local committees. We’ll be attending local committees, telling other groups why we’re here, and how we can help them. We can help them financially but we can also help them physically, by going door to door,” he added.

Adam Lord, a party activist and certified public accountant in Manchester, is serving as the group’s chair. Seacoast Republican activist Doug Palardy, who’s the husband of state Sen. Dan Innis, is the other vice-chair.

Also attending Friday’s event at the 100 Club in Portsmouth are NHGOP vice-chair Wayne MacDonald, and Gregory T. Angelo, president of the national Log Cabin Republicans.
