Subzero weather starts day in NH

MANCHESTER - New Hampshire is getting off to a frigid start.

Subzero temperatures were reported across the state overnight, with temperatures as low as 33 below zero in Whitefield.

The National Weather Service reports Concord dropped to 21 degrees below zero, breaking the record of 17 below set on Feb. 24, 1894. Portsmouth recorded 10 below zero, tying a 1961 record for the date.

Temperatures were expected to rise into the upper single numbers and teens Tuesday. Some snow was in the forecast for Tuesday night.
