Study says 24 states are stricter than NH when it comes to drunken driving

New Hampshire has been ranked the 25th strictest state when it comes to DUI's, according to a Wallethub study online.

The report ultimately discovered which states have taken the issue of drunken driving the most seriously by ranking the 50 states, and District of Columbia, as "the strictest and most lenient states on DUI."

The list started with Arizona as the strictest, and went all the way to South Dakota as the most lenient.

The study states that drunken driving was the cause of 31 percent of motor vehicle fatalities in 2014.

It also reports that the government estimates that drunken driving costs Americans more than $40 billion per year.

The rates of drunken drivers have decreased significantly since the sates first began to crack down on it in the 1980's.
