Struggle to arrest man in Manchester involves multiple officers; one apparently injured
MANCHESTER - Police were out in force on Massabesic Street after a suspect fought with police as he was taken into custody. One officer appeared to have been injured in the scuffle on Thursday night.
Neighbors described a chaotic scene with almost a dozen cruisers near the Shop'n'Go convenience store, where witnesses said there had been a robbery earlier in the day.
It was unclear whether the police action was in response to that robbery or whether the man was being taken into custody for other reasons, but witnesses described seeing small plastic bags fly out of the suspect's backpack during the altercation with police.
After the arrest, fellow officers helped one plain-clothes officer into one of the cruisers, and witnesses said he appeared to be injured.
