Strafford man carves out snow fort at Bow Lake dam

STRAFFORD - One resident of this town is trying to make the best of all the snow on the ground.

Patrick Lavoie on Sunday "opened" a snow bar that he built by the Bow Lake dam.

The cave and tunnels, which he has dubbed the Dam Bar, took him more than 65 hours over nine days to complete.

"I'm trying to make something - make a positive out of a negative," Lavoie said Monday. "Everybody is getting all down about the winter being long, and I just want to do something fun and different. I kept looking at this drift for days, and my wife would drive-by and I kept saying I was gonna make this epic snow fort."

Epic is one way to describe it. Just take a look at the interior.

Lavoie said he used a shovel, a tool that takes the shingles off a home and a sled to build the fort.

"It was tough my body is beat up," he said.
