Steinhauser: Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina suspends her campaign

CONCORD – Carly Fiorina’s out.

The Republican presidential candidate took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce “today, I am suspending my campaign.”

In a longer post on her Facebook page, the former Hewlett Packard chief executive officer wrote “while I suspend my candidacy today, I will continue to travel this country and fight for those Americans who refuse to settle for the way things are and a status quo that no longer works for them.”

Fiorina’s move comes one day after she finished a disappointing seventh in New Hampshire’s Republican primary, grabbing just four percent of the vote. Fiorina, the only female running for the GOP nomination, was a frequent visitor to the Granite State over the past year, logging a lot of retail campaigning time in the first-in-the-nation primary state.
