Steinhauser: Kasich stays positive on final day

NH1 News Political Director

PLAISTOW – John Kasich refuses to go on the attack.

Asked by NH1 News on Monday about criticism the day before from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the Ohio governor refused to take the bait.

“Look, I love Chris. I don’t have any response. I mean I’m not going negative. Especially at this point. Look, it’s all about what I’m doing.

“I’ve been thrilled with the campaign we’ve run here. Positive and forward looking and we’re going to be on to South Carolina after a great finish right here,” Kasich continues.

Kasich spoke with NH1 News before he held a town hall at the public library in Plaistow, the 104th he’s done since launching his presidential campaign last July. Kasich’s held more town halls in the first-in-the-nation primary state than any other candidate.

Asked what he’s liked the most about campaigning in the Granite State, Kasich said “the people. I’ve had the best time being with the people. I’ve learned a lot here about people’s hearts, and their heads, and it’s been a wonderful experience. There’s not a single thing that I have not enjoyed and it’s all positive, positive. It’s been great and you know what, I’m loving it. And I’ll be back. As Arnold (Schwarzenegger) says ‘I’ll be back’.”
