RYE - Marco Rubio's trip to New Hampshire Monday was a quick one, but NH1 News has learned that the senator from Florida and Republican presidential candidate will return to the Granite State on Friday.
Rubio will headline a Seacoast Republican Women holiday luncheon at the Portsmouth Country Club in Greenland. The Rubio campaign told NH1 News that at least one other stop would be added to the visit.
Monday Rubio headlined the latest edition of former Sen. Scott Brown's "NO BS Backyard BBQ" series. Some 500 people jammed into a large barn in Rye to hear the senator speak and take questions from the audience. Brown told NH1 News it was the largest crowd so far at the eight events he's hosted.
Rubio praised Brown, saying "it's great to be back with Scott. We miss him dearly in the U.S. Senate. He was a great senator."
Rubio, who's rising in the polls in the race for the GOP nomination, told the crowd that "my intention is to unify this party. It's why I spend very little time attacking any of the other people that are running against me."
While Rubio took more than a dozen questions from the audience, he left the event without taking questions from reporters.
Earlier, Rubio held a town hall at the VFW in Laconia and was endorsed by Franklin Mayor Ken Merrifield. Rubio briefly visited Franklin during a swing through the Granite State in late summer.
