CONCORD – Kelly Ayotte will team up with two fellow female Republican senators on Thursday and Friday at four campaign stops across New Hampshire.
NH1 News learned Wednesday that Ayotte, who faces a tough re-election this year against Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan, will be joined by Sens. Joni Ernst of Iowa and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia starting Thursday evening at 5:30pm at the Halligan Tavern in Derry.
The next day the three senators will campaign together at a meet and greet at VFW Post 5245 in North Haverhill at 11am. That will be followed by a veterans event at Wicwas Lake Grange #299 in Meredith 1:45pm, and a 4:15pm event at the Odd Fellows Hall in Goffstown.
The North Haverhill meet and greet was first reported last week by veteran New Hampshire political reporter John DiStaso.
Ernst, who was elected to the Senate in 2014, is considered a rising star in the GOP. Capito was also elected to the Senate in 2014, after serving 14 years in the House of Representatives.
Ayotte’s campaign says Sens. Ernst and Capito “will hit the campaign trail and join grassroots supporter to talk about Kelly’s strong record of leadership and delivering results for New Hampshire.”
The Ayotte-Hassan race is shaping up to be one of the most high profile, expensive, and nasty Senate showdowns this year.
