State testing: 6 NH beaches with high bacteria counts this weekend


CONCORD - Elevated levels of bacteria in the water near a half dozen state beaches have officials urging swimmers to pick a safer spot this weekend.

Additional testing is anticipated early next week. But the beaches currently with advisories from the state Department of Environmental Services recommending the public "avoid water contact activities" include:

19 Mile Bay, Lake Winnipesaukee in Tuftonboro

Great Pond Park Association Beach in Kingston

Moultonboro Neck Town Beach, Lake Winnipesaukee

Opechee Cove Beach, Opechee Park in Laconia

Pawtuckaway State Park Beach in Nottingham

Twin Mountain Recreation Area Beach in Carroll
