State says drug overdose deaths in NH expected to break 400 in 2015

CONCORD - The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is now projecting more than 400 drug overdose deaths by the end of 2015.

As of Friday, 319 overdose deaths have been recorded and 74 others are pending, awaiting a final review.

The updated numbers reflect 142 deaths due to fentanyl and another 57 that involve a combination of fentanyl with heroin or other drugs. Opiates or opioids now account for 269 out of the 319 total overdose deaths

In 2014, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner recorded 326 death due to drug overdoses, again primarily fentanyl, heroin or other opiates or opioids.
