State police: Stay off the roads if possible; drive with extreme caution

CONCORD - State police say they've been dealing with multiple crashes around the state and are urging people to stay off the roads.

"We would like to remind everyone to limit road travel for Saturday day, and all the way into the evening hours, to allow our partners from the Department of Transportation to clear and treat the roads," police said in a statement.

"If you must be on the roadways, please slow down and allow extra space between your vehicle and others....Please keep both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road," it continues.

State police also urge anyone on the road to give a wide berth to snow plows and to clear snow off of all windows and lights, including brake lights and turn signals, before setting out. They are asking drivers to wear their seat belts and leave plenty of extra time to get to their destination.
