ISLES OF SHOALS — Star Island in New Hampshire's Isles of Shoals is throwing a centennial party, but it's not settling for just birthday cake.
The festivities will include the unveiling of its new solar array — said to be the largest off-grid solar array in New England.
The nonprofit Star Island Corporation — which has owned the 43-acre island since 1915 — is inviting the public and dignitaries to the unveiling on June 27 and other activities. The Isle of Shoals Steamship Company will have a boat to Star Island departing from its Portsmouth pier at 10:30 a.m. on June 27.
Festivities include the cutting of a birthday cake, and a 2 p.m. ribbon cutting and dedication of the solar array, followed by a tour highlighting the island's history and sustainability efforts.
