St. Patrick School in Portsmouth raises money for new building
PORTSMOUTH — Megan Cook of Nashua had a dream come true when she won a brand new Toyota RAV4 in the St. Patrick School raffle. The raffle drawing was held Wednesday night, August 31. Friday, 30-year-old Cook picked up the new vehicle.
Five hundred tickets were sold, at $100 each, to help raise money for educational programs at St. Patrick’s and to help pay for the new school building currently under construction.
The elementary/middle school celebrates its 150th anniversary next year when it plans to move students, in grades one through eight, to their new building on Campus Drive in Portsmouth.
This is the second year the school has raised money by raffling off a new car donated by Toyota of Portsmouth. This year’s donated 2016 RAV4, Hybrid, retails for $30,000.
The owner of the dealership, James Boyle, says he wanted to donate the vehicles and fundraise for the school because his son and daughter attend St. Patrick’s School.
“Growing up, I went to St. Sabastian’s in Newton and those were the greatest years of my life. When I walked into St. Patrick’s I felt the same family environment. The faculty and students take good care of each other,” said Boyle.
