Somerwsorth man may face 15-year sentence for sexually assaulting 7-year-old girl

A Somersworth man found guilty of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison Tuesday afternoon.

Faustino Brito pled with the judge, saying he has five children and worked two jobs to provide for his family. But Judge Mark Howard said Brito changed the little girl's life forever when he lured her into his house with the promise of one dollar.

Attorney Meghan Hagaman says the sentence will help the family move on.

"This is great closure for them to be able to move on with their lives, this case has been pending for quite some time... now the family finally knows what will happen to Mr. Brito," Hagaman said.

Brito faces a minimum of five years, but it could ultimately become 15 in jail.
