Somersworth elementary school evacuated after small crack found in ceiling

SOMERSWORTH - Idle Hurst Elementary School in Somerworth was evacuated Wednesday morning because of a crack found in the ceiling. The school is on Stackpole Road.

Police said someone noticed a small crack in one classroom in the ceiling in the kindergarten wing.

Officials moved the students to St. Martin's Church on West High Street where the school was releasing students to parents.

A structural engineer will look at the crack to see what repairs need to be made.
