CONCORD - The scariest thing about Halloween may just be how hard you'll have to work out to burn off the extra weight you could put on from bingeing on candy.
Take the favorite Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, they pack a mean 110 calories a piece. Fitness Expert Dean Carlson of Get Fit New Hampshire said, "Depending on the kind of exercise you like to do you are spending 15 minutes to 45 minutes just to burn off one of these babies."
Let's be honest - who can really stop at just one?
It's not just the calories. The snack size individual Reese's Cups have 6 grams of fat and 11 grams of sugar.
Concord YMCA member Linda Gilbert said, "My favorite are Snickers. I usually try to buy candy that I don't like so I don't much on it, but this year I decided not to do that. I decided to indulge, so Snickers is my number one treat."
In the Halloween sized Snickers candy there are 80 calories. When asked how long it takes to burn off a couple of them YMCA Coordinator Trieste Philbrook said, "Probably about a half hour of work if you are on a treadmill or out running or a good solid group exercise class."
M&M's are another favorite. The fun sized have 73 calories with 2.6 grams of fat and 9.6 grams of sugar.
Tootsie Pops are fat free, with 60 calories and 10 grams of sugar.
Jelly Bellies are also fat-free with 35 calories and 7 grams of sugar.
YMCA Member Courtney Wells said, "My favorite is anything gummy, so like gummy bears, dots, all of the things that will pull the fillings out of your teeth. I have no idea how long it will take to work any of them off. Probably an hour or more of this (workout)."
